How to make a social media content calendar with AI
Posting regularly is one of the hardest parts of social media for small teams. A content calendar fixes the 'what do I post today' problem, and AI makes it realistic to fill one. This guide shows how to plan a month of posts, batch-create the content and keep it sounding like your brand.
Pick three to five content pillars
Pillars are the recurring themes your account posts about. They keep the feed varied without starting from a blank page every week.
- Product: features, close-ups, new arrivals.
- How-to: tips and tutorials that use or relate to your product.
- Behind the scenes: how things are made, packed or designed.
- Social proof: reviews and customer photos, shared with permission.
- Offers and news: sales, launches, events.
Set a schedule you can keep
Consistency beats volume. Three good posts a week every week does more than daily posting for ten days followed by silence. Choose the platforms that matter for your audience and a number of posts you can review properly.
Lay it out in a simple table: date, platform, pillar, format (video, image or carousel) and a one-line idea. A spreadsheet is enough.
Write the ideas before generating anything
Fill the calendar with one-line ideas first. 'Close-up of the new blue colour', 'three ways to style the scarf', 'packing an order in slow motion'. Once every slot has an idea, generating the content is mostly mechanical.
Ask an AI for more ideas per pillar if you get stuck, then keep the ones that fit your brand.
Batch-create by format
Making content one post at a time is slow. Group the calendar by format and create in batches: all the vertical videos in one session, all the square images in another, then all the captions. Use the same brief, style and tone each time so the month feels consistent.
Adapt each post to its platform
The same idea can work on several platforms, but the format and caption should change. Vertical video for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Square or portrait images for Instagram and Facebook feeds. Taller images for Pinterest. A more professional, text-led post for LinkedIn. Hashtags matter more on some platforms than others, so don't paste one list everywhere.
How to do it in Qevio
Qevio's AI Campaign Generator turns one idea from your calendar into a short video, images, titles, captions and hashtags in one run, sized for the platform you choose. Set up your Brand Kit once so colours and tone stay the same across the month, and keep each month or campaign in its own Project.
For text-only slots, the AI Caption & Hashtag Generator writes captions, hashtag sets per platform and CTAs for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Pinterest. The credit estimate is shown before each run.
Review and schedule
Set aside time to review everything before it goes into your scheduler.
- Is every product shown accurately?
- Does each caption sound like your brand, not like a generic AI post?
- Are dates, prices and links correct?
- Is there a good mix of pillars across the week?
Questions
How many posts should a small business make each week?
As many as you can make well and keep up. Three to five a week on one or two main platforms is a realistic start for most small teams.
Can AI write a whole month of social posts?
AI can draft the ideas, videos, images and captions quickly. You should still choose the ideas, check accuracy and edit the captions so they sound like you.
What should a content calendar include?
At minimum the date, platform, content pillar, format and a short idea. Many teams also add the caption, the link and a status column.
