How to turn a product photo into a video with AI

By the Qevio team · · 5 min read

If you already have good product photos, you can use one as the starting point for a short video. Image-to-video AI takes the photo as the first frame and adds movement, such as a slow camera move or the product in use. This guide covers choosing the photo, describing the motion, choosing the format and what to check.

Choose a good starting photo

The video starts from your photo, so problems in the photo carry into the video. Pick an image that is sharp, well lit and shows the product clearly, without heavy text or a busy background.

  • The product is in focus and fully in frame.
  • There is some space around it for the camera to move.
  • The lighting and colours match the real product.
  • There is no text or logo overlay that could warp when it moves.

Describe the motion you want

Tell the tool what should move and how. Short, specific instructions work better than long ones: a slow push in, a turn around the product, steam rising from a cup or a hand picking the product up.

Keep the product itself mostly still if its shape or label matters. Moving the camera or the scene around it is less likely to change how the product looks.

Pick a length and a format for each platform

Short clips suit social feeds and ads. Vertical 9:16 fills the screen on TikTok, Reels and Shorts, square 1:1 and portrait 4:5 suit feeds, and landscape 16:9 suits YouTube and websites. Check each platform's current specifications if you need exact sizes.

Make a few versions

The same photo can give quite different videos. Try a couple of motions and keep the one that shows the product best, rather than settling for the first result.

How to do it in Qevio

In Qevio's AI Video Generator, attach a JPG, PNG or WebP image up to 10 MB and use it as the first frame on video models that support image-to-video. Describe the motion, then pick a length of 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 seconds (which lengths are available depends on the model) and a format: 9:16 vertical, 1:1 square, 4:5 portrait or 16:9 landscape.

Product Ad mode is designed to keep your product accurate and central, and Fast mode is useful for quick drafts. To get captions, hashtags and images for the same product from one prompt, use the AI Campaign Generator. You see the credit estimate before anything runs.

What to do outside Qevio

Qevio doesn't post videos for you. Download the video and upload it to your store, ad account or social profile yourself.

Check before you use it

Watch the video from start to finish, at full size and on a phone.

  • The product keeps its real shape, colour and label throughout.
  • Nothing in the scene bends, flickers or looks odd.
  • The motion supports the product instead of distracting from it.
  • The format and length suit the place you'll post it.
