How to make a product demo video with AI

By the Qevio team · · 5 min read

A product demo video shows what a product does instead of just telling people. For physical products, a short demo can answer the questions a photo can't: how it opens, how big it is, how it works. AI video tools make it possible to create these clips without a studio. This guide covers planning, generating and finishing a demo.

Show one feature per video

Long demos lose viewers. Pick the single feature or moment that sells the product best, and build the video around it. If the product has several strong features, make one short demo for each and use them in different posts or ads.

Plan three to five shots

Think of the demo as a short sequence, and generate each shot as its own clip.

  • Opening: the problem, or the product in a striking close-up.
  • Action: the feature in use, such as opening, folding, pouring or switching on.
  • Detail: a close-up that shows quality, texture or a small clever part.
  • Result: the outcome, such as a clean surface, a tidy desk or a happy user.
  • End frame: the product on its own, ready for your logo and call to action.

Start each shot from a real photo

A demo has to be accurate. If the video shows features the product doesn't have, it will lead to returns and bad reviews. Use real photos of your product as the first frame of each shot, so the model animates your actual product rather than inventing one.

Watch each clip closely. AI video can still change small details such as buttons, labels or how parts connect, so throw away any shot that misrepresents how the product works.

Add captions and a call to action

Many people watch with the sound off, so add short captions that say what's happening: 'Folds flat in two seconds', 'Fits in any bag'. End with one clear call to action, such as the shop name or 'Link in bio'.

Put the clips together in a simple editor or in the platform's own editing tools, where you can also add music and text that matches the platform's style.

How to do it in Qevio

In Qevio's AI Video Generator, attach a JPG, PNG or WebP photo of your product up to 10 MB as the first frame (on models that support image-to-video), describe the action for that shot, and choose the Product Ad quality mode to keep the product accurate. Pick a length of 5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 seconds depending on the model, and the format for where the demo will run.

If you don't have good photos yet, make them first with the AI Product Photo Generator, then turn the best one into a video. The credit estimate is shown before every run.

Questions

How long should a product demo video be?

For social media and ads, 15 to 30 seconds is usually enough to show one feature clearly. Longer, detailed demos fit better on a product page or YouTube.

Can AI make a demo of how my product works?

AI can animate your product from real photos and show simple actions. For complex mechanisms or software, film the real thing, because AI may show steps that don't match how it actually works.

Do I need sound in a product demo?

It helps, but many people watch without sound. Make sure captions explain what's happening on screen.
